Guyana or Bust!

Hey guys! This week has been quite interesting. We've had a lot of things happen in that we had two less actives say that they wanted us to stop seeing them and we had an investigator tell us through his friend that he wasn't interested in our message but we've also had a lot of success! We have 3 investigators on baptismal dates and we had a long time less active come to church this week! This week we also had the chance to do a service project at this place called Palmentown! It's called that because there are tons of palm trees everywhere! We fixed up and re-furbished the playground there so it was really fun! It took some time to finally get ALL the paint off of me but it eventually happened. Today we played Four-square, if there is one thing that Suriname Missionaries love more than Bakabanas is four-square! We get pretty into it! Especially when we star coming up with different ways of playing, for example, playing without using your hands, doubles, and playing where you have to hit it twice! It's pretty fun! Well that's all for now folks!

They have Zone Conference tomorrow and some of the missionaries including Cameron will be going to Guyana due to their Visa's haven't come through yet. Some of the missionaries are on what's called a tourist Visa and still waiting on their proper Visa's to come through. He's bummed, but excited to see a new country. Sometimes they only have to stay a day or so, but we won't know until that day comes. I know it will all work out and they will be where they are supposed to be.

Veel Dieren!

This week has truly been the week of many animals! I had the chance to (sorta) teach a family home evening, it was in Portuguese though! We got invited and we shared a message and the Restoration video since it's in Portuguese, every now and then a parrot would swoop down and freak out everyone, it was a little funny. One of the Portuguese members has a less-active brother, he went to church this week and he was so happy to be back! We communicated through google translate and now we're pretty good friends! I also learned that Brazilians are huggers! This week we got transfer calls and I learned how Elder Cooper and I are staying together in the same area (Paramaribo North) so that's exciting! I'm officially done being trained but I still have a lot to learn, mostly in Dutch but I digress! This week for animals; I saw Dogs, cats (mostly kittens), a parrot, a spider monkey and a sloth! Gelukkig Kinderverkleedfestijn op de avond van 31 Oktober! Or as I like to call it, Halloween! That's the translation my dictionary gave me and it's certainly fun to say really fast! For Halloween we didn't really do anything spectacular, people here are superstitious so that means no celebration D: But on the bright side I did have the chance to wear my Harry Potter tie, so that was something! We gave a member's brother a baptismal date for December and it's hard to believe how much time has passed already!
Mi lobi jullie!

Hey Guys! Sorry I don't have that much time this week for a weekly email but I'm glad to say that all is good on the south front! The sun has been cooking me pretty badly recently and today we went to a place called Cola Creek, it's called Cola Creek because the water is the color of cola (brown) but even if I could swim in it I wouldn't! I'm fairly certain that's it's that color because of nasty stuff! But pictured below is a picture of a gecko I befriended, I caught him sneaking a drink from my cup and after him not liking me for a little bit we eventually became bros and he accepted me as his father, I named him Frank and I tamed him! Unfortunately I had to let him go back because I couldn't keep him but he will forever remember me!

I've been teaching English to this Portuguese speaking member and it's really interesting learning more about English as I teach it! They don't celebrate Halloween here really, the people here are pretty superstitious, they have giant trees here, people won't cut them down since they believe they'll receive an evil spirit if they do!

See ya next week!
