"Is dat land Suriname?" "Jawel" "FAWAKA SURINAME MI LOBI YU!" Hello everyone!

Eveneens een week in het land van Guyana! (Also a week in the country of Guyana!)

This week was good, I went on exchanges to Corriverton and across the river I could see Suriname so that's where the title comes from; also that last part translates to, "How's it going Suriname I love you!" It was fun, Elder Cooper and I were out with Sister Solomon and we had her take a picture for us but her thumb was in the way, still cool though haha!

Not too much to say this week because I don't have too much time but it was good. We went with Sister Marsha (she got baptized a few months ago) and we went and taught her son and his wife and they were really excited to hear what we had to say! We went back for another lesson and only the wife was home but she had read a bit from The Book of Mormon and she had a lot of good questions, it was really cool to see her find answers from what she read, the second time.

Elder Andrus is really funny, everyday basically feels like an action movie; filled with flames, dangerous critters, donkeys and more flames. I told him last night, "Elder Andrus, if I had to write a book about you, I would call it Flamethrowers and Unsafe ways to have fun" It'd probably be an Autobiography.

Well that's it for me today, sorry! Take care and remember, I love you, the Lord loves you and Satan hates your face.

Elder Hardy

Goede morgen iedereen! (Good morning everyone!)

This was yet another fantastic week in the life of an Elder living in Rose Hall, Guyana. I think the reason why this week felt wonderful is because my studies have become more personal, I've trying to do my best to pick out things I need to improve upon and using the scriptures as an example!

Elder Andrus and I have also had some funny encounters. This one guy on a bike started talking to us and I could not understand a word of what he said but Elder Andrus translated for me how he wanted some money. As missionaries we can't give out money, so we took him to a small convenience store and bought him a Pepsi and some crackers. He thanked us but I still couldn't understand him, now I know why my mom told me to not mumble!

Church was very cool, it was packed with 55 people, the most the area has seen in a while! The reason why is because we haven't just been teaching by ourselves, we've been trying to take members everywhere. We got a couple of families to come back and it was really cool to see. There was a less-active, that when we saw him he was very intoxicated and very sad and regretful; we had a really good lesson about the Atonement the next time we saw him. This week we saw him in church and he was grinning ear to ear, sitting with his whole family.

Keep on keeping on and may the force be with you!

Lobi,
Elder Hardy

Een lange tijd in het bos; ben ik nog een bos-man? (A long time in the jungle; I am a jungle-man?)

Hey everyone!

This week has been pretty crazy. I was in a trio for a little bit but that was really fun, there was never a dull moment. I eventually made it to Rosehall and it's pretty fun!

The people here are nice, the other night we got called "White sirs" which was a first, weird. I also have a new companion, Elder Andrus! Elder Andrus is from Ogden, Utah, he loves Star Wars almost as much as I do and he loves cooking alligator (it's pretty good). We've had some fun walking around our area, we've been using a taxi to get around from place to place but it's really easy because there are a ton of people who will drive you around!

I learned that church in Guyana is very different, they're only slightly tone-deaf but it was a fun experience! My companion's the clerk and the senior couple gave us some training on what we need to do to make sure everything's going well.

There are also animals everywhere. I've seen: donkeys, pigs (and piglets), horses, chickens, turkeys, sheep and more goats then I ever thought imaginable. When I see a large group of goats walking towards us on the road, I like to joke around that they're in a gang and they're BAAAAd to the bone.

Well that's it for this week folks, I hope you're enjoying life!

Lobi,
Elder Hardy

Algemene conferentie! General conference!

Fawaka allemaal! It's Elder Hardy, (still in Guyana) this week was pretty fun, we also had the chance to watch General Conference! I never realized how hard it would actually be to listen to it until now.

We watched the Saturday session with two of our investigators on baptismal dates; Doreen and Melissa. We started watching it when all of a sudden Melissa's phone died! After the phone was sufficiently charged, we got to watch the last two but the next session we got to watch the whole thing! It was really cool because afterwards we asked them what they thought and they said that they loved it! We came back the next day to watch the next session but they told us how they had to go to a wedding so we bused down to Rosignol and watched it at the church there.

I think my favorite talks were probably President Dieter F. Uchdorf's talk about the Plan of Salvation (https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2016/10/media/session_1_talk_3/5150993228001?lang=eng) and President Russell M. Nelson's talk about Joy (https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2016/10/media/session_4_talk_4/5151884835001?lang=eng) Links attached if you want to watch them!

I also learned how I'm going to be staying here in Guyana for the time being, I'm going to be in this place called "Rose Hall" should be fun. I'm starting to get more used to speaking English but I'm still doing my best to keep up my Dutch! Ik hou van nederlands te spreken, ongeveer een week terug had ik de kans om een lid van de kerk te ontmoeten die uit Belgiƫ is gekomen! Wij hadden een beetje in het nederlands gesproken en hij was heel erg blij. (I love to speak Dutch, about a week ago I had the chance to meet a member of the Church who came from Belgium! We had talked a little dutch and he was very happy.)

I also attached some photos from general conference, I hope you like them!
